BIO

In early 2017 a few long time musical collaborators decided to throw former opera singer Claire Feeney into the front seat of a rock band...meet Claire & The Bears.
Her vocal versatility along with lead guitarist John Szymanski's technical mastery allow the band to defy traditional genre classifications and indulge a myriad of influences including 70s arena rock, pop punk, Stax soul, feminist folk, and southern gothic country.

The result is an energetic weaving of voices and guitars that keeps multi-generational audiences on their feet and wanting more.
The group continues to impress audiences across Chicago with their live shows, and are on track to record an original album for release in Spring 2019.

“Janis Joplin vocals meets soulful rockabilly backing to create the perfect soundtrack for born-again sinners.” - Cassandra Rose

“The best surprise they have up their sleeve is how big they sound live. Claire Feeney’s fun, girly, 60s-vinyl howl is the main event, but even a great venue like Martyrs almost feels too small for their roaring five-piece sound once they tear into it.” - Mark Brand

Claire and The Bears are:

Claire Feeney - Vocals

Roy Freeman - Keyboard

Sean McGill - Drums

Austin D Oie - Tenor guitar/vocals

John Szymanski - Lead guitar/vocals
